BOOK TWO of CRAVE SAGA

Indulge

Along the way, I find the collar of her neck, and against all my instincts I open my mouth to take taste.
“Ouch!” She exclaims, jumping off my lap and pressing her hand against her neck, “Did you bite me?”
Feeling both embarrassed and enraged I look away feeling ashamed. Saying nothing at first, but then when confronted by my own humiliation all I could manage to say is, “I guess I did, huh.”
“Maybe we did get a little carried away.” She said in my defense. Then wiping her neck with her hand and looking at it; clearly checking for blood.
“Do not do that!” I roar as I get up from the sofa and make my way to the closed curtains that separates the bed chamber from the foyer of my room.
“Do what?” she asked bewildered.
I say nothing, just continue to retreat behind the curtains.
“Sebastian! Sebastian!” She shouts my name, chasing me and trying to probe a response out of me. I ignore her, not interested in pursuing this conversation any further; but she persists. “Sebastian!” Unable to handle her sweet voice nagging me any longer I turn and snap.
“Don’t be my savior! I don’t need you to pretend like it is acceptable that I am a monster! I am a repulsive, horrible, beast and there is no point in pretending I am not!” I huff out of breath.
She stands just before me, perplexed for a moment, but her demeanor softens, and she reaches for me and says, “That is not how I feel about you.”
“Well, you should because it is the truth.” I said in disbelief of her statement, I began to pace still feeling the fumes of rage boiling in my body.
“No!” She exclaims, tenaciously. “You are beautiful and kind. You have done nothing but try to protect me since we met.”
“I am also the reason you’ve been in danger since we met!”
“No, you are wrong, and I love you.” With those words she spoke aloud we both halted immediately and looked at each other stunned. She stood blushing, both her hands immediately covering her mouth as if to prevent any more accidental confessions.
I approach her, placing my hands gently on her petite shoulders, she gazes up at me still blushing while biting her bottom lip.
“You what?”
“I…I love you.” She declares yet again with a nervous smile. Hearing her say it a second time, still little unsure, a feeling washes over me like a cleansing ritual. Melting away all the current feelings of doubt and dismay and leaving just one in its place. Love.
“I love you too.” Then we delicately embrace in a loving kiss, holding each other so gracefully.
